Does it occur to anyone else that trust is not always earned, and that the same applies to distrust. Let us apply some logic to human tendancies...
First example: Actors we tend to trust because we trust the people they pretend to be. In reality an actor is a professional liar, the more convincingly he can lie the more believable the character he portrays. The more believable the character the more we trust the person that plays him/her. So, basiclly the better they are at lying the more we believe what they have to tell us. Does this seem rational to you?
Second example: Politicians, we trust some we do not trust others. This is because we are torn between wanting to think some of them are honest, and hearing about those that break their promises. In reality some of the honest ones have to break promises because it simply cannot be kept, and some of the dishonest one keep promises simply because it does not go against their self-interest at the time or because what they promised is accomplished by someone else. But as a rule most people either hate all politicians or single them out solely by political party.
Third example: Rich Businessmen we do not trust. Since they are not on the big screen, and they are not making campaign promises, likely the only time you hear about a businessman is when he screws up, or when he screws his customers/employies figuratively or literally. We never hear about one doing good, because good news is not good copy. So good news rarely if ever gets printed, unless it is PC and then it has an agenda.
