Rush Limbaugh recently said something about the "Liberal Sports Media." I don't even really know how to decide a political bias in sports reporting... I guess in the realm of baseball you'd divide the liberals and the conservatives up with how they answer the question "What's your opinion on the designated hitter?" (If George Will were to be in favour of the dh, I'd think the world slightly off-balance somehow.) Other than that... generically patriotic, tend to support public financing of local sports stadiums (I guess that'd indicate that there's no great libertarian bias), and... um... tend to find fault with "Title 9". In the games, women are on the sidelines doing human interest-type stories ("The star wide receiver's puppy is having by-pass surgery, so he's dedicated today's performance to his dog...).
Rush's statement is bizarre more than anything else. Black quarterbacks in the NFL are not an anomalie... and virtually all the qbs have been praised and been piled on at some point in their career. Head coaches, on the other hand, would make sense: there's an affirmative action program at work to get blacks jobs as head coaches (when hiring for coaching vacancies, teams are required to interview a black prospect) and if the statement applied to Head Coaches ("Tony Dungy is overrated, and he's propped up because the league wants to see a black man succeed.") ... it'd make some sense.
