Zenmon, FA was at a rare social gathering of the nerdish known as the local videographers meetup earlier today, and I mentioned this issue there among fellow geeks. One of them has experience with the internet from the earliest days, starting with programming and selling software, building businesses, and doing stuff I barely understand (flies to Europe often, grabs URLs until they are timely and sells them at a profit etc.). He said that the MarketWatch policy is probably only aimed at limiting or trying to combat spam, which is huge for companies. He said he completely blocks China from his sites because there is so much fraud.

Don't ask me how spammers can get any greater benefit from an anonymous board vs. a real name board. I wouldn't think that would have anything to do with spamming the company itself, and might even make looking up small fry real people somehow easier.
