Granted, there may be some gap in communication. For example my name is GreatWyrm, not "grand". I have no idea what you define as neo, other than the obvious usage of the term to mean later modified or new age. I did list the points of Rand's philosophy that stand out in my opinion. Of course, everyone has a different idea of what parts are important.

I have seen some people really mangle Objectivism. The worst being a character by the name of Joseph Sarandos, that seems to have somehow fused it with socialism, scary. Therefore I can understand the concern.

But, you worry me a bit when you say that education should be in the hands of the state. Self interest being the only motive of human behavior indicates that education is the last thing we should trust to the state. If you said we should turn education over to the industries that need highly educated people to function, I would be behind you. It would be in their best interest to allow all children to succeed to the best of their ability so that they could harvest the cream of that crop for their interests. Logical, and not a violation of self-interest.

But, how does the state benefit from better educated children? It does not, so what motivation do they have to do anyuthing better than simply the bare minimum they can make an excuse for? People do not seek state employment because they are pushing the envelope, they are seeking a job where they are almost impossable to fire even if they are complete idiots. Not the sort of people we want responsible for preparing our children for the future.
