Hello, Queen,

Guess I started up several topics in "religion in the workplace."

For the record, my parents were Russian Jewish immigrants (not Orthodox). I was born in USA in the 1920s and served in WWII. Married 1947. Attend night college while working full time job to support 5 children. Still work for my son's distributing firm. Don't drive.

Had good life, super wonderful family. Did face bullying as a child from Christian neighbors.

Worst incident was the bully Egan brothers (devout Catholics) ganging up and severely beating me, breaking my nose. My Father had the chutzpah to FORCE old man Egan to pay every cent of damages --- though Egan sniffed we were just "money-grubbing Jews."

My Father wouldn't let up --- even beating on their doors and window panes till they opened up!

I admire guts.

We Jews have had it much better than Blacks. I have always HATED bullying and discrimination against any innocent party.

Among the Smock-type religious zealots I've met here, their worst HATRED and CONTEMPT is poured out on women (then minorities). This bothers me as the father of 3 daughters and several granddaughters. My sons were taught to respect women.

Women are the N****rs of Christianity.

I sure don't expect agreement with old jr, and welcome lively debate. (Call me "Jew-Boy" if you like -- Chris Barr does).

That topic of shunning continues to intrigue me. Apparently Observer belongs to some little "tent-meeting" church, where they literally snub you.

In a practical sense, I'd like to know how Observer plans to shun her husband. Just as I always wonder how you'd effectively carry out this puerile punishment in the military.
