FA,

I've heard of people having similar experiences when near death, or under anesthesia.

Yet I've also known people who suffered serious accidents, who were on the brink of death, who saw absolutely nothing. Does this mean they are less religious, that God didn't care for them?

Personally, I suspect the "white light" or "tunnel" is a hallucination.

Another interesting topic is the premonition of death. Lincoln had a vivid death dream before his murder on April 14, 1865. It so frightened him that he described it to others. Hence, Lincoln's dream now "belongs to the ages" and you will find it in every history book.

I knew a man who related a (warning) dream of dying at sea. He was to board a ship the next day but as luck would have it, was detained and literally missed the boat. The vessel was torpedoed.
