I really love that you quoted the old Brit in your post! Well, I don't have any condemnation about birth control at all! I'm fully for barrier methods; for a variety of health reasons. This is not the point. The point I was trying to make, that you didn't address, are the Catholics and Mormons who are "Christians" being told NOT to use birth control for the same reasons that you suggested.

I wanted to have an intellectual exchange, as well as a spiritual discussion, about these people and their countries (Brazil, Mexico, etc.) and belief systems which continue to overpopulate their regions, as well as keep these people is extreme poverty and poor health.

I didn't mean to judge people who have lots of kids, as long as they can provide basic nurture and material nurture. But when we talk about families who are motivated by church doctrine and it is to a disadvantage for them to have children, I believe this is poor doctrine.

What do you think?

And when I talked about cars I was specifically thinking about foster children I had who would go on their visits with their birth parents in a van that lacked seat-belts, and had an exhaust system that filled their clothes with odor and made them, literally, droopy-eyed, when they returned.

I think you are being naive or avoiding a deeper discussion here.
