Actually the first set is from the one who is comfortable in his faith. While the second is a bit uncomfortable. The first to my reading is just a statement of fact. "In each of us there lies a line..."

The second is in the tone of a search of trying to make a decision "Each of us <must> then decide..."
there is an urgency there that was not in the original post.

Now for the second part of this post. How would you respond to these pieces of prose? do you agree with the speaker? Can one be in the church without agreeing with every belief of that church? should you even agree with every belief?
