Well, I can see there's not much point in this. I think you are into a myth as great as anybody here who thinks we can do no wrong.

But about the "mammy" reference...I disagree. Maybe you hear our critics as not wanting one; I hear them as blaming us for every ant hill that's not all their dreams might wish in their own little back yards, wah wah wah. THEY DO want a mammy. Or they don't really, but they like to act like they should get a Ms. Fairy godmother.

Example: Clinton was at some bash with a bunch of mid-eastern heads (you realize of course how widely he is blamed by U.S. conservatives for "backing down" in the Cole and other incidents) and there he had to take a lot of heat from the opposite chorus who always insists that we "don't foster" democracy. Clinton probably shouldn't have even tried to meet with them, but he listened, then said "OK, we haven't known how to do that. TELL US HOW." Well, as far as I know none of them had an answer. It's like, when the Europeans were so worried over the poor prisoners in Cuba. We said okay, we can share the joy and send you some. Show us how nice you want to house them and set them up. Do you think we had any takers? Ha. There is bull shit everywhere, Bennie.
