"We are not the wonderful virtuous perfect images everybody wants but who could be"

ive heard this one a bit too, you know. nobody wants america to be perfect. people want america to GET OUT OF THEIR BACKYARD.

"There's no way any great power could be everything all the other several hundred countries would like to have as mammy"

mammy, huh? the "other several hundred countries" dont *want* a mammy, that is exactly what they dont want. a MEDDLING, INTERFERING, WARMONGERING SELF-INTERESTED OUTSIDE POWER.

"We aren't always right or brilliant but we are a lot better than to deserve all this hatred. "

on the contrary, the worst act of hatred upon your country has been a half-succesful terrorist attack. pretty lucky id say. that is not very much hate. not considering the carelessness with which your foreign policy has been carried out, the pain which has been caused by it, the death and poverty that has been caused by it.... no i would say that on the karma scale america scores alot of unrepented/unpunished sin.

"It's so much easier to hate and blame someone else than look clearly at how you caused your own problems."

true. bush took that easy path didnt he? but going beyond hate and blame he is going to blast them to hell. of course, the american government understands in full how it caused its own problems. it is simply looking to resolve the situation to the best possible conclusion regarding america's "national security", security against both external threats and civil unrest (which is encouraged in the constitution or similar document). fortunately for american "national security", american society has probably already been manipulated too much for any large-scale revolution to occur. were it to occur, your military already has the "non-lethal" weapons to deal with it. how would you like to have your skin heated to the point of unbearable pain by a truck-mounted microwave two kilometers away, or get shot by some fuck convulsion-inducing laser?? no, civil unrest in america would get very ugly indeed!!

"Trying to tear us down is just going to cost everybody. "

agreed, because if anything like that happened it would be incredibly destructive and could potential destroy earth altogether. but just keep pushing people around, see how long they take it for... people wont put up with that shit forever, especially not from some hideous dastardly politician in another country.

"Should we really let them blow up a few buildings a year just so they can gradually wake up? "

why consider their well-being when we can just kill them before they harm us too much? why consider their point of view when we are so much better than them?

firstly, 911 may have been a paradigm-smashing event for most americans, but it was one attack. only one. and the first since pearl harbour as i understand. there should be no assumption that terrorists were going to continue to "try to steal america's freedom"

secondly, gradually wake up who? wake american politicians up to the fact that the world will not tolerate their presence much longer?

finally

"REAL men and women are fighting in the frozen wasteland of Afghanistan, to rid us of the threat of terrorism. "

thats right, and theyre dying too, to "rid" us of "the threat of terrorism" which so far has had no more than one manifestation as opposed to american imperialist behaviour which rises to the surface of the news so often that i dont even think twice about it. the major problem with this sentence though, is that sadly terrorism does not consist of osama and his gang. your war on terrorism may scare and bully most other groups into submission, and you (should i say your clandestine agencies) may feel you have a pretty good idea of what is going on on the world terrorist scene..... but you cant stop them that easily, not if they want to do it.

look at the IRA.

oh!! another terrorist group that has been helped by the US government!! doesnt the US government hate terrorists!!!!
