Well, I did it. I went in and voted for none of the above, in all races; and NO to all issues. After I placed the "ballot" in the box, I tore up my
voter registration card, and told them I that I was thoroughly disgusted with ALL candidates running, and pretty much everyone in the country that thinks any
of these bought and paid for clowns are going to do anything to make this country better.

So you opted out of voting? No big deal, you're usually in the majority there.
For some reason I thought you might have been from South Carolina, but I checked your public info and saw you're from Missouri, so my recommendation that you ought have voted for Bob Conley -- Pat Buchanan and Ron Paul supporting Democrat -- is moot. |

I am a bit puzzled by Paladins actions here: I was under the impression that he spent a fair chunk of his time on the campaign staff of some candidate or other
in his corner of the world. Did that guy loose big in the primaries or something?

Howie, I made clear my statement...that being I cannot in good conscience vote for anyone currently running, I find them ALL wanting. If Ron Paul can be
marginalized into nothing what chance has anyone else?
Thinker-I was writing speeches for a state congressional candidate when it hit me, it is all pointless. No one that cannot be controlled will be allowed access to any position of power. I sat through the Missouri State caucus and watched as time and again republican party officials threw out all Ron Paul supporters without cause and replaced them with those that would vote for McCain. They did this in violation of election laws, and in front of the media, no one uttered a word to stop it. It was then I realized that the winner of this election had already been chosen, making anymore effort futile. I have been accused many times of tilting at windmills, so be it. But I cannot by my ballot elect anyone I believe to even the lesser of two evils, for I will have to face God and answer for my actions. I am done with this irretrievably corrupt corporation known as the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, it is an outlaw group filled with nothing but fiends and tools of those with distinctly less than noble intentions. Paladin, for what it is worth, I voted for Nader...and independant or third party for all the other positions for which that was an option. The only
proposition I voted `yes' on was a local one having to do with long needed road improvements.
I would also point out that the circumstances the country are in will either crush our new president or force him to make the sort of real changes that count as statesmanship. One bit they've been mulling over on the oil board that pertains directly to this is a leaked draft of an IEA report (slated for formal release on November 12th) that states flat out the 400 major oil fields around the world are in the process of declining at a combined average of 6% - 9.1% a year. That is freaking catastrophic. Not only that, the IEA's response to the leaked draft used a lot of weasel words that didn't really dispute that conclusion. A decline of 2 or 3 percent a year is ...managable... especially with an economic downturn. Do some serious economizing, get partway shifted over to alternative energy...we could probably deal with that for a decade or more before things get real nasty. Unfortunately, the geological, technical, political, and financial problems won't allow for that much of an offset for that long. Maybe three or four years. After that... A decline of 5 or 6 percent means a pretty serious recession. The wheels will still turn, but a lot slower. Imagine that recent post hurricane rationing/outage situation in Atlanta and FA's corner of the world extending nationwide and dragging on for years. About the only way to stop a return to the 19th century here inside of a couple of decades is to make a near complete switchover to alternative energy, and doing that will totally transform the nature of American life at all levels. And that switch will be fought tooth and nail by the established interests. A decline of 9 percent a year? That puts us about half a dozen years out from living in the world of the `Road Warrior'. |
